Saturday, April 18th, the Habitat for Humanity is putting on a gala now named, “2015 Building Hope Gala: An Evening at Downton Abbey,” to benefit low income homes in Montgomery County for the past 25 years. Habitat for Humanity will also be celebrating their 100th home. The guest seating is limited to 500 people.
Downton Abbey has become a cultural phenomenon amongst women since its airing. Although what Habitat for Humanity is doing for the people in its area is exceptional to say the least, it’s particularly striking that they have a Gala theme that represents the complete opposite of what they are actually doing. Forty community volunteers sat down to a “proper tea” to discuss how they would accomplish this task.
Past themed gala was “The Wizard of Oz,” but declined to do “The Great Gatsby” because it was to ‘decadent.’ For those that know the Great Gatsby story, it explains the hardship of a love you once had that you may never get back and that money doesn’t buy happiness. Frankly, the suitability between The Great Gatsby and Downton Abbey isn’t much far off.
Hopefully, the gala is a success bringing in more volunteers and enough money to continue the phenomenal work they do.
Hold the presses, hold the presses! If you haven’t heard about Joanne Froggatts award for being best supporting actress, well you just heard it here. Furthermore and in my own respect and importance, Highclere castle is opening its doors and taking reservations for one of two guest cabins. That is right, now you can stay at the luxurious castle where the television series is filmed. The cost for this excursion per night is $550, a small price to pay to be so close to television royalty. If you are unable to fly over the pond for this type of trip, there are other trip you can take. Georgia’s Sea Island is rated the top resort destination in the south where they will be placing on a costume party and proper English dinner. The English dinner will be $250 per head and Laura Carmichael (“Lady Edith”) as well as Kevin Doyle (footman “Joseph Molesley”) and Raquel Cassidy (“Phyllis Baxter,” Lady Grantham’s maid) are expected to be in attendance during the weekend. So if you are looking for some serious Downton Action where the show just isn’t enough, these are two really good offers.
Allen Leech, who plays the role of chauffeur Tom Branson in the PBS British hit television show series Downton Abbey, has a way with accents. The native Irish born has used a mixture of English, Scottish, and Irish accents to whew his viewers. Playing a World War II code breaker, Leech uses what is called a ‘scotch lilt’ (The Imitation Game).
During some of Leech’s scenes where Tom confronts a nanny who inappropriately disciplines his daughter, he uses his well versed Fellowes impression saying, “I don’t think another death on our hands is what we need.” When asked about his uncanny ability to switch accents, he explained that never would he pull that accent in front of Fellowes unless he got fired.
Not only is Leech good looking or his character role, but his accent is something that has drawn viewers to the now lead character. One can almost look at Tom Branson’s character as traversing the social hierarchy in front of our eyes, the ugly duckling becoming a beautiful swan. For those reading and hoping that Leech’s character doesn’t run away from his duties, you mustn’t be afraid, Allen Leech is going nowhere, he has become apart of the estate.
This being stated, Tom Branson has traveled through many arenas since the passing of his wife. Alone with his child, now a re-ignition of purpose and socio-political fire has come somewhat flooding back into him. Through the help of Sarah Bunting, played by Daisy Lewis, Leech’s character is seriously mulling over his life in America with his daughter. With the family still not quite grabbing at his foot heels to get him back, his character looks forward to where he can find love and needs the acceptance of the family.
It has been confirmed that George Clooney, star of Gravity, will be showing up in season 5 Christmas Special Entertainment Stars state. For months, we have seen George Clooney’s name hit the spotlight with mentions of Downton Abbey, but more or less had to do with either getting married or taking on another short film harboring him at Downton.
Clooney was determined not to allow a leakage prior to the season airing, but unfortunately, not everything nowadays can stay secret with social media. He forced the cast and crew to keep this little known secret as well. That being said, It has been confirmed that George Clooney has acted out all his lines for a wedding that will occur during the Christmas Special.
But what does this mean if George Clooney is starring in wedding scenes for the Christmas Special, who is getting married. Well it seems that Lady Mary in this season will have her mind made up. Supposedly, by all accounts, she will be taking this individual on a “dirty weekend.” Will this Christmas Special be all about the new marriage between Lady Mary and either Blake or Gillingham. It seems quite promising.
Season 5 of Downton starts in not a so good light Joanne Froggatt tells Enstarz! New Episodes of Downton Abbey Season 5 starts the 21st of September 9:00 PM on ITV1 or ITV1 HD.
Hold the presses… Hold the presses… Is George Clooney set to be cast in this seasons Downton Abbey Season 5? I thought that too, but it seems that the Silver slaying fox will not. The writers at wet paint really like to make our hearts beat.
STOP! But don’t leave the page just yet. It’s not all inaccurate. Although Clooney will not be making a special on the television series, he will be within a sketch created by Julian Fellowes. He will be in a wedding sketch along with Hugh Bonneville and Michelle Dockery.
The sketch is going on to raise money for charity and will be played on the Downton grounds. But no one knows if it will take place on season 5 of Downton Abbey. But it starts off in the U.K. on September 21 and airs in the U.S. starting January 4, 2015.
The Dowager Countess, Violet Crawley (played by the none other Maggie Smith) brings her A-game in this 20 second Downton Abbey Season 5 trailer. With all that is being talked and joked about, it seems that Violet has quite the sassy mind. Isobel Crawley takes Violet’s simple comment to an over the top height, making the short clip rather amusing.
In the clip, it’s clear that Isobel is worried about her relationship with a man and violet is trying to explain to her only what a man wants. Let’s just say Isobel went straight towards the gutter.
Recently, it has come to light that Daisy Lewis, who plays Sarah Bunting on the hit television show Downton Abbey, might call it quits after season 5 as Hollywood looms in the distance. Although she only joined the high profile cast last year, it seems that her acting career is taking hold in America, which might partially be the reason for her possible leave.
Daisy Lewis plays the teacher, Sarah Bunting as previously stated above. She has become widely popular within the show and it would be a great sorrow if she left. She stated to the Daily Telegraph’s madrake column that “she was moving over to America and she was so excited.”
This comes as a shock seeing she just joined the cast and becomes this force for some while becoming a role model for others below her. Julian Fellowes stated that he was rather amused that it was not the writers or producers that were pulling the plug, but rather the actors themselves pulling it.
