Reality has struck and Julian Fellowes is playing that somber violin all the way to the end. Recently, Downton Abbey released the final trailer for Downton Abbey and those that have seen it needed some tissues and Ben and Jerry’s double fudge chocolate ice cream… because it was going to get messy.
With fans in the United States unable to watch the season finale until January 3rd, the anticipation with which the season will unfold is palpable. Voices re-emerge and speak strong and silent truthes, the reminescent images come streaming to the forefront as memories live once again. Julian Fellowes makes a strong attempt to proclaim his message through the art of which he is proudly known for. That message is that the past created a life they all know to the present and they must use that creation for where they head into the future. Do not be sad, but be glad that you were able to live and grow in that moment.
While we are sad the show is coming to and end, rellish in the moments, harness it, and use it into the future. Without further ado, your motion picture awaits. The 1-minute video below.
The final season airs September 20, 2015 on ITV in the UK.
It has been floating around the interwebs that Tom Branson, played by Allen Leech, has revealed a couple aspects surrounding the atmosphere of Downton Abbey. When the series returns, viewers will return to the 1923-ish era in which the lifestyle, class civilization in England will change. There will be a struggle to keep what systems they have in place afloat. Reflection about what Downton Abbey and its inhabitants represent will be something of great importance to its viewers come season 5.
As we expect, from the death of Branson’s wife, internal emotional and psychological effects will make there toll on Branson. With this a certain bromance will be observed.
That being said, the addition of some new characters are in order. Carnival films and MASTERPIECE announced that a few new characters will be introduced to the cast come season 5 on PBS.
Richard E. Grant will be joining the cast as a guest of the Granthams. He will be introduced as Simon Bricker. Anne Chancellor, playing the character Lady Anstruther, and Rade Sherbedgia, playing a Russian refugee will guest role. Lastly, we will have some returning cast members Dame Harriet Walter, as Lady Shackleton, and Peter Egan as Lord Flintshire.
Below is a short clip on Allen Leech and his character Tom Branson. He briefly explains a little behind his evolving character Mr. Branson and what people should expect out of him in series 5.
Below Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith) says, “You have a straightforward choice before you: You must choose either death or life.” Who is she speaking to? We can’t tell because we never get a glimpse of the person or a shot in anyway. We can deduce from the words spoken that it’s said to the closest of people to him… Mary. Countess says very important words, you can either shut down and give up or choose to live on for him and you.. only you can make that choice.
As everyone who watches this show, it is clearly known that Matthew dies at the end of season 3. And so we have this dilemma. But from all the stories that have circulated for the past couple months, it’s very easily to deduce that Mary isn’t going to kill herself and the words from Countess are just a note. In my belief, with all the suitors rumors and additional seasons of Mary, it makes this part of the story very hard to care simply because we know that the words from Countess are useless. Although must be said in the show, in reality and us being omniscient, just useless.
As soon as clip is broadcasted, we will place the clip up on here for your viewing pleasure. Also, there have been rumors that the beginning of this season 4 will be somewhere in Mid-September in UK and January in the United States.
